What is a Virtual Proof?
We offer virtual proofs as a free service and aim to get them to you by email within 1-3 hours of receiving your artwork during business hours (Mon-Fri 9am to 6pm). There is no obligation to order, however if you wish to proceed with an order, your virtual proof represents the basis of our order fulfillment. If you are considering an order it is therefore important to check that you are happy with the proof and request modifications if required:
Virtual Proof checklist:
- Spelling of any text, website address etc
- Orientation of logo/text
- Size and positioning of logo/text
- Pantone® color refs (if applicable)
- Abnormalities in the logo appearance
- Check your company brand guidelines
Please note this list is just a suggested checklist and not exhaustive. Once a virtual proof is confirmed with an order, processing begins and we are not responsible for errors in fulfillment if they are evident on the virtual proof.
What is a Screen Print/Pad Print?
Screen printing, previously known as silk-screening is a printing technique that traditionally creates a sharp-edged image using a stencil and a porous fabric. The screen is made from porous finely woven fabric held over a frame. Areas of the screen are obscured with a non-permeable stencil which is a positive of the image to be printed (the remaining open areas are where the ink will appear). When printing multi-color logos, a new stencil is made for each color and the different colors printed sequentially. Screen printing is most suitable for logos with 1-4 colors that have no shading or color gradation
What is a CMYK Full Color Photo Print?
Photo printing is similar to standard desktop printing in that logos can be reproduced in full color by combining 4 colors known as CMYK in varying amounts. Photo printing is the best choice for logos with many colors or those with shading or gradation.
What is Laser Etching?
This permanent marking process involves using a fiber or CO2 laser to etch your design on the surface of the USB drive. This process exposes the underlying substrate of the material if it is painted or anodized, or if it is a raw material, vaporizes a thin layer of the substrate to make a different color. It is necessary to use vector art for this process, as we cannot laser etch any gradients, halftones or colors. Keep in mind that the underlying substrate of painted drives might be brass, zinc, aluminum, steel, or plastic. These different substrates each have a unique color and will be exposed when etching painted drives. If laser etching a wooden drive, the laser will burn the wood a darker color as the temperature of the laser site exceeds the flash point of the wood.
What is Hot Stamping or Debossing?
Hot stamping is a debossing process that is used to imprint leather or wood drives. First, a positive die is machined from your vector artwork. This die is then heated and pressed into the surface of the drive. The artwork is then permanently reliefed into the surface of the drive. This process has a fair amount of dimension in it, so small details might not be accurately transferred to the surface of the drive. As with laser etching, the hot stamping process will burn the wood or leather a darker color as the temperature of the die exceeds the flash point of the material.
How can we do Extreme Detail on PVC?
When creating a custom PVC drive, all details are extruded off of the surface of the drive. These details can be the same color as the base color of the drive, or poured as a different color. These details are hand applied, so there may be slight variation between two drives of the same batch. Some restrictions to keep in mind- details cannot be extruded taller than they are thick, details cannot be less than 0.25mm wide, and details cannot be less than 0.25mm apart. This is due to the machining limitations in creating the mould. Also, due to the hand made nature of these drives, we can only produce a custom PVC drive with 7 colors or less.
What is an Epoxy Dome?
This applique features a digital full color print underneath an epoxy domed coating. First a die is created to the shape of your artwork, which is then used to cut a vinyl full color print to shape. A optically transparent epoxy is poured over the decal and allowed to harden, protecting the artwork from scratches or scuffs. This type of decal is only suitable for application to flat surfaces.
What is a Vinyl Decal?
This applique is perfect for simulating a printed label on PVC USB drives. Your full color art is printed directly onto a vinyl sticker and die cut to size. As this label is made from flexible vinyl, it is possible to wrap it around cylindrical shapes.
What is a Flash Drive?
A Flash Drive uses flash memory to function as a portable hard drive, allowing you to store and transport any kind of computer file on a very small device. They can hold incredibly large amounts of data and are small enough — about the size of a pack of gum — to slip easily into your pocket, on your key chain, or around your neck on a lanyard.
How do I use a Flash Drive?
Using a flash drive to store files is just as easy as using an old floppy disk and even simpler than burning a CD or DVD. Just plug your Flash Drive into a USB port on your computer and drag the files you want to take with you into the folder that appears in “My Computer” or on your desktop. Your files are quickly copied over to your Flash Drive. To transfer the items on your USB flash drive onto another computer, simply plug your Flash Drive into the new computer, open the folder that appears on your screen, and drag the desired files onto a folder on the destination computer.
Will my Flash Drive work with any computer?
Flash Drives are based on the USB standard and operate with all PCs (Macs too!) and devices with a USB port and running Windows ME or later (USB drivers are also available for Windows 98, Windows 98 SE and Windows NT) or Mac OS 8.6 or later. Virtually every personal computer manufactured in the past 10 years is equipped with USB ports, and nowadays it is common to find systems with as many as eight separate USB ports.
How much data can a Flash Drive hold?
Flash Drives are currently available with up to 64GB in storage capacity and are available in a variety of storage sizes for different needs. For reference, a 2GB Flash Drive can hold about 250 songs in MP3 format .
What are the advantages of a Flash Drive as compared to recordable CDs and DVDs (CD-R/DVD-R)?
USB ports are much more common than DVD burners so while your Flash Drive will work with almost any computer, blank media (CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, etc.) would require the hardware necessary to write data to them. Also, the process of copying files from your computer to a Flash Drive is much faster and simpler than burning a CD or DVD. What’s more, Flash Drives act like portable hard drives to which you can add and delete files as many times as you like-as opposed to CD-R’s and DVD-R’s where you can only add data once and you cannot remove data once it is burned onto the disc. Also, unlike blank media which are sporadically faulty and deteriorate consistently over time, Flash Drives are manufactured and printed under rigorous quality control standards.
What are the advantages of using a Flash Drive instead of an external hard drive?
Roughly the size of a pack of gum, Flash Drives are far smaller than external hard drives, offering users unrivalled portability. Additionally, Flash Drives utilize flash memory-technology that includes no moving parts whatsoever unlike traditional hard drives-so risk of damage from rough handling and accidental drops is greatly reduced. Flash Drives are also more convenient because they do not require any of the configuration and setup associated with typical external hard drives.
Who are Flash Drives for?

Are the chips we use Tier 1?
The NAND Flash memory chip is a component that lies at the heart of a Flash Drive. Memory comes in different grades with a range of read and write speeds and data-retention capabilities. At Promo Crunch we only use new, grade-A memory in all our products. Unfortunately it’s become common place for some corporate gift suppliers, acting as middle men, to be unaware of what their USB Flash Drives contain. The result is low-grade memory: dirt cheap and tempting for unscrupulous manufacturers to use. Promo Crunch a USB Flash Drive manufacturer and so we can strictly control all the components used in our Flash Drives.
I don’t see the color I want for a particular style of a product? Are there colors available that are not listed?
We list all the standard colors for each product on our website. We can, however, create Custom Colors according to your specifications. There is a minimum order quantity for creating Custom Colors which varies from product to product. Visit our web page or talk to a Promo Crunch sales representative for further information.
What is our standard FREE Data Preload?
We copy your content to your flash drives and users can access it at will. Perfect for a “soft sell” or for distributing software and other data content to users who know what they’re getting. Basic preloads up to 400 MB are free. Larger preloads may cost more but are always quoted upon request.
Can we Lock Down content on a flash drive?
Make all or some of your preload content files non-erasable by locking them. Your PC will see this section of your Flash Drive storage space as if it was read only and it will make it impossible for the user to delete the material. It also leaves the other portion of the drive useable and easily added to.
What is an AutoPlay Autorun?
Our most robust option. As soon as the USB Flash Drive is plugged in it will send information to Windows in order to automatically launch your content.
